The Messenger Public Library Board of Trustees on Friday July 22nd announced plans to undertake the interior renovation of the west wing of the library building at 113 Oak St. in North Aurora. The Board and Staff began discussions and planning for this project in the spring of 2013. The west wing renovation is second phase of a two phase multiyear project to enhance the library facility and the community's investment in the Library facility and to continue to keep the building up to date for the community of North Aurora. The Library Board has contracted with Kluber Architects and Engineers of Batavia Illinois to oversee the bid and construction phase. The project will enhance community accessibility and further enhance customer services. Two additional meeting rooms will be added in response to an increase in the need expressed by North Aurora residents. Additional technology and collaborative space furniture and areas will be added. Self-checkout units will be installed along with an area for self-service pickup of reserve materials to enhance customer privacy and efficiency with regard to routine checkouts. The Library material collections for adults and teens for both print and nonprint will be rearranged for greater accessibility and enhanced customer service. Two public service desks will be merged together into one area near the front entance door. A new staff off desk work area will be constructed to provide for greater staffing efficiencies and flexibility. A new lounge area and coffee bar space will be created as well as a new library material browsing space. The project drawings and specifications are posted at the Kluber Architects and Engineers Plan Room website for prospective contractors to view. Contractors should go to the “Public Jobs” tab to be able to view, order and download documents.  Contractors are strongly encouraged to register for the project so Kluber has a  record of who is a plan holder and also any ‘REGISTERED PLANHOLDER” will automatically get notified if any addendums are issued. A pre-bid meeting will be held at Messenger Public Library, 113 Oak Street, North Aurora, Illinois 60542 at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016. Prospective bidders are requested to attend.
