Summer Challenge 

For Adults

Participate this summer by reading, listening to audio books or music CDs, watching DVDs, and downloading eBooks or eAudiobooks. The Summer Reading Challenge runs annually from June 1 through July 31. 

For Babies, Kids, and Teens

Participate this summer by reading and completing fun activities. Summer Challenge Badge Books and reading trackers will be available to pick up in May. North Aurora residents can also pick up a fun, summer yard sign to display all summer long. Update or create your account on the Beanstack Tracker app or messengerpl.beanstack.org. The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 1 through July 31.


Read, Learn, Grow 

For preschoolers, babies or anyone in between

Messenger Public Library's Read Learn Grow program is a fun, exciting and FREE way to start your child on the path to reading success! Any child who has not yet entered kindergarten can participate. Read Learn Grow runs all year long, so your only deadline is the first day of kindergarten. 

Sounds awesome, now what? 

  • Visit Beanstack, our online reading program tracker, to create an account for your family. 
  • Stop by the Youth Services desk to receive your program folder and materials 
  • Read! Read to your child and log on Beanstack. Read the same book 10 times in a row? Count 10 books towards your total. 
  • Stop by the library after every book milestone to celebrate your child's achievement and earn rewards along the way.

Our newest reading challenges are designed to encourage reading and exploring during the school year. Earn free books, badges and a School Year Challenge tote bag.

  • Visit Beanstack, our online reading program tracker, to create an account. If you already have an account, just check that you and your family members' information is up to date. 
  • Visit the Library to pick up a paper log, an optional way to track progress during the school year.
