Hours: Part Time/Non-Exempt /16 hours per work week. Messenger Library is an EEO employer.
Salary: $15.00 / hour
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Circulation Services Department Head, performs a variety of tasks related to the circulation of materials and related library user services.
Understands and administers library policies and procedures while safeguarding confidential and restricted information
- Sorts, shelves, straightens and shifts library materials, ensuring placement is correct.
- Clear tables and browsing carts of materials
- Provide friendly, effective service to visitors, directing them to materials or the appropriate resource
- Promotes the library through positive communication and engagement with users.
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma and or GED equivalence. Customer service experience and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Applicants must have very flexible availability. Basic skills using computers and office equipment. Must be able to push carts containing library materials up to 40 lbs.. Requires a full range of body motion including bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching to place materials. Must be able to communicate effectively, read instructions and recognize colored labels.
Preferred Candidates:
Some college courses.
Spanish language skills a plus.
