Baker & Taylor, the vendor that Messenger ordered most of our books from, has gone out of business. They served as the primary book vendor for libraries across the country for almost 200 years before abruptly announcing their closure this fall. They’ve had trouble filling our book orders for months and then cancelled all of our thousands of outstanding book orders in October. Please continue to be patient as we explore and set up alternative vendors, who are all facing slowdowns due to this huge shift in the library book market.
In the meantime, make sure to place holds for the titles you’d like to read. Log into your account at med.swanlibraries.net or the SWAN Libraries + app. You can also place holds over the phone 630-896-0240 or in person at the library. With the SWAN consortium, you’ll continue to have access to new and popular titles while Messenger’s copies are still on order.
